No, it is being offered to the Rio Texas Annual Conference as an Open Letter. We believe that the large number of signatures on the petition will reinforce its importance.

It will signify the support in the Rio Texas Conference for the removal of the harmful language. Also, it is a way for moderates to support full inclusion of LGBTQ United Methodists because it does not call for the addition of any language to force churches, clergy or annual conferences to do anything.

No. The Reconciling Ministries Network is asking all United States Annual Conferences to support this resolution. It was originally adopted by all the Jurisdictional Conferences in the United States in November 2022.
